Hanoi tourism welcomes more than 21 million visitors in 9 months

In September, Hanoi tourism welcomed 2.16 million visitors, an increase of 6.1% over the same period in 2023. Of which, international tourists reached 510.6 thousand visitors, an increase of 32% over the same period last year, domestic tourists reached 1.65 million visitors

Thus, since the beginning of the year, the capital’s tourism industry has welcomed 21.12 million visitors, an increase of 11.7% over the same period in 2023. Of which, international tourists reached 4.45 million, an increase of 40.8% over the same period in 2023, domestic tourists reached 16.66 million, an increase of 5.8% over the same period in 2023.

In September 2024, the average room occupancy rate of the hotel sector reached 64.3%, an increase of 6.73% over the same period in 2023, so in the past 9 months, the average room occupancy rate of the hotel sector is estimated at 62.6%; an increase of 1.6% over the same period in 2023. Hanoi has 3,761 accommodation establishments with 71,246 rooms, of which 606 hotels and apartment buildings have been rated from 1 to 5 stars.

The system of shopping, dining, and entertainment facilities that meet tourist service standards has attracted and served a large number of tourists and locals to visit and shop. The number of visitors increased, so the total revenue from tourists in the first 9 months reached VND 81,932 billion, an increase of 18.5% over the same period in 2023.

According to Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang, from now until the end of 2024, promote the implementation of new types of tourism such as: adventure sports tourism, experience tourism, virtual reality tourism… Promote the development of MICE tourism in locations with advantages in resorts, golf tourism associated with the organization and hosting of cultural, sports, political, social events, major national and international festival programs. Innovate in building, developing, and connecting unique and characteristic tourism products of Hanoi.

Focus on building and perfecting the connection of individual tourism products into a chain of unique and attractive products. Expand the connection of the capital’s tourism products with the unique tourism products of localities in the Red River Delta, Northwest, Viet Bac… In addition, the Department of Tourism will build a pilot model for developing agricultural and rural tourism economy associated with new rural construction in the city.

Developing resort tourism and agricultural tourism products in the capital connected with the Tam Chuc (Ha Nam province) – Bai Dinh – Trang An (Ninh Binh province) cultural tourism route; cultural tourism products in the capital connected with the Cat Ba (Hai Phong) – Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh province) sea and resort tourism route; forming experiential tourism and community tourism routes such as the Hanoi – Lao Cai – Lai Chau route, the Hanoi – Hoa Binh – Son La – Dien Bien route.
